Shu on the Lisburn Road played host to the ever popular and ever stylish Belfast FASHIONWEEK ‘Style Sunday’ event. This glamorous four course gourmet luncheon, run in association with Mencap NI, is one of my favourite soirees of the season.

It’s a fun and intimate affair consisting of a mini fashion show were models showcase a special selection of the super stylish outfits fresh from the catwalks of Belfast FASHIONWEEK. Effortlessly compared by duo Cathy Martin & stylist and presenter Rebecca McKinney.

Giving us the low down on makeup trends was the behind the scenes expert make up artist Stevey Lennox from Paddy McGurgan’s studio, and Brenda Shankey from the Jason Shankey salon talked tresses.

What we ate:

Guests were treated to a fabulous four-course gourmet luncheon of Artisan sourdough breads, Risotto of St Tola goats cheese, Sauvignon Blanc & chives, Roast chicken, champ, smoked onion puree, grilled leeks, Maderia. Followed by a truly delectable Valrhona chocolate, hazelnut and banana brownie served with Clandeboye yogurt ice cream.

What we drank:

West Coast Cooler cocktails of course.

The things that made it fabulous:

Everything!

What they wore:

Dress code rule – fabulous?

Cathy Martin looked sensational in her mint green Kevan Jon dress from Blush, and guests wore zesty greens, citrus lemons and all things Spring/Summer.  And me? I wore this outrageously comfortable Malene Birger dress in petrol blue, nude shoe boots from dune and carried a nude Prada.

The Charity:

An incredible £1,541 was raised on the day for Mencap’s #bigstepforward appeal.

But as the models applauded and performed a final twirl (thus heralding the end of Belfast FASHIONWEEK (boo, hoo), our spirits soon lifted as we were served our final course of the afternoon - a very decadent chocolate, hazelnut and banana brownie.

Thank you Cathy Martin for staging another fabulous week of fashion – until next season!

Thanks for reading, Jackie.
