So, maybe you're a little bit – ahem - overzealous when it comes to shopping (I feel you).  Everyday, we see lovely new launches from our favourite high street stores and designers, it can be hard to say no; but an overfull wardrobe, and too many items of clothing, can leave us feeling slightly overwhelmed.

So, this got me thinking, could I sell on my unwanted items and, at the same time, create a more manageable wardrobe of key pieces?  That beaded black dress I wore once, to a New Years bash, last season's sandals that I’m now neglecting, and a blouse that no longer fits. Think of it this way: As your unused dress you bought for ‘The Races’ sits in the deep dark depths of your closet, there’s someone out there who’s looking for, or needing, that very dress. So, instead of letting my fashionable finds gather dust (and take up valuable space), I’m giving my pre-loved togs ‘a second chance at happiness’.

So, next weekend I’m taking my pre-loved items down to BFW HQ where I’ve a booked a stall at the fashion souk sale.  Director of Belfast Fashionweek, Cathy Martin, has teamed up with the gorgeous Alyson McElroy, founder of the original FashionSouk Belfast, to host a #BFWSouk at the uber-stylish Fashionweek HQ, in Bruce St; an event hosting stalls and pop-up stores for vintage and previously owned clothing. Cathy, who founded Belfast Fashion Week, and Alyson, who created the Fashion Souk brand in the city, are hoping their new collaboration will show people the benefits and excitement of buying pre-loved and vintage clothing.

I am so excited and can’t wait to see what my fellow fashionistas have up for grabs, and it’ll be interesting to see which of my pieces I manage to sell on. In the past, I’ve listed a few items on ebay, and on the odd occasion used a clothes agency to sell some high-end designer’s pieces, but a fashion souk seems a lot more fun.

Now, I haven’t quite finished the full wardrobe audit/clear-out, but I have already set aside about 40 items I know I’m happy to pass on……

A ‘tag still on’ £300 cream woollen L K Bennett jacket; a pair of black patent peep toe wedges from ----- (worn to a wedding for all of 2 hours – heels too high); a nude DKNY nude clutch (same wedding); two blouses from BOSS (think I’ve also got a grey pinstripe suit from BOSS); three dresses from REISS; two from Hobbs.  But wait, I’m saying no more, these are just a few little tasters, and you’ll have to come along and see/try for yourself.

So, save the date (and get there early) if you want to pick up some super-stylish bargains, in pre-owned designer, vintage and top end high street clothes. Join me on Saturday, 17th Oct from 11.00 am – 4.00 pm and see/try/buy fab previously owned clothes - for sale at super-duper autumnal prices, in sizes UK 6-16”. Our FASHION stalls will offer savvy shoppers a unique blend of locally made, previously loved, designer & high-street fashion, accessories and luxury items while our SLOFOOD makers will bring you the very best local deli snacks, treats and staples. A fabulous event, bringing together an eclectic mix of Food, Fashion & Beauty.
