Recently, I had the opportunity of meeting up with renowned Bobbi Brown Make-Up Artist, Amy Conway to talk make-up; and, more importantly, receive a fabulous make-over from Amy herself. It’s not the first time, but it’s always a pleasure to catch up with Amy and hear of her exciting travels, around the globe (she wakes up in a new city, almost every day).
As an introduction to the brand new Telluride make-up collection from Bobbi Brown, I had the privilege of being able to try out the new products first hand, as well as being walked through individual products in the collection (you try not purchasing the lot).
The Telluride Collection...
Inspired by Bobbi's love of Colorado, the Telluride collection is one not to be missed, with Bobbi stating “Anyone, who knows me, knows that I’m a huge fan of Telluride, CO. There’s something about the fresh mountain air and gorgeous scenery that instantly makes me breathe a little deeper.”
The collection reflects that freshness of the mountain air and creates that flattering glow of the mid-afternoon sun. The collection is ideal for that transition between summer and autumn, with nude, taupes, golds and bronzes, as well as warming pinks and browns.
Including an eye palette with seven shades, the pink dust lip trio including a lip pencil, gloss and lipstick in three different shades, a shimmer brick in sunset pink, a long-wear eye-liner gel, mascara and cheek and lip pots in new shades, the Telluride collection is beautiful in the packaging, but applied, it's even better!
Ideal for transitioning from summer’s pinks and pastels to autumn’s moodier smokey shades, the Telluride collection combines those shimmering uplifting tones, with warm and darker shades, perfect to use together, as the days become shorter and the weather cooler.
My top picks from the collection would include the eye palette. The seven colours are a joy to look at, and you can mix and match to create your ideal autumnal eye look. I'll be opting to use the whites, taupes and nudes, for the daytime, and the golds and browns, come the evening. I'm also in love with the shimmer brick for an instant autumn summer glow. It's ideal, dusted over the face where the sun would hit, and gives just the right amount of glow, illuminating the face, but subtly and naturally.
I got to try Bobbi Brown’s January 2014 ‘Red Magazine Award Winning’ smokey eye mascara (how come I didn’t know about this before?). First things first: this Smokey Eye Mascara doesn't have anything to do with achieving a gorgeous smokey eye look. That comes from eye shadow and eye liner application, regardless of which mascara you use, but this kohl-pigmented mascara delivers high drama by creating extremely black, stretched-out lashes in an instant. Plus, the long-wearing formula holds its own against flaking, smudging, sweat and humidity. Fantastic!
Overall, I love the look and feel of the Bobbi Brown Telluride Collection and think it’s worth picking up some of these pieces for your summer-into-fall makeup rotation. With prices starting at £18.30, it is well worth investing in a few key pieces: and, with many products being limited edition, they won't be around for long!
Big thanks to Amy Conway for walking me through the products, and taking her time to work her magic on me, so I could try the collection before I picked out my favourite pieces.
The Telluride collection is now available online and in store. What do you think? Would you wear these ‘between pink and brown’ shades?
